Professor Madson Tavares Silva, from the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), participated in the VI International Congress on Risks at the University of Coimbra in Portugal (https://vicir.riscos.pt/). The event took place from May 23 to 26, 2023.

During the congress, the UFCG researcher presented three scientific papers, of which two are associated with the productions of the Graduate Program in Meteorology at UFCG (PPGMET) and one result of the activities foreseen in the Research Project: Characterization of the space-time dynamics of the land use and land cover in the state of Paraíba with financial support from FAPESQ.

The VI International Congress on Risks debates the topic Risks and Territorial Conflicts, from natural catastrophes to geopolitical tensions, which encourages dialogue between the areas of science, operational sectors and civil society. Professor Madson Tavares points out that “this exchange of experiences between countries is always important and enriching knowledge.”

The Congress also features major lectures and, in parallel, thematic panels that will address issues such as climate and meteorological risks, fires, research into risk education, socio-environmental vulnerabilities, among others.
